Alice Nelson

Alice Nelson is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, specialising in creative storytelling utilising elements of animation, reconstruction and collage.

Her film, A Map with Gaps has screened at over forty film festivals worldwide, winning ten awards, including Best Documentary at Slamdance Film Festival ’07. Subsequent commissions for Channel 4 daytime strands and 3 Minute Wonders included short documentary Losing Myself: Annie which won a Scottish BAFTA for Best Short Film in 2007.

Alice Nelson collaborated with nine other director/artists to make feature length documentary The New Ten Commandments commissioned by BBC Scotland to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Other directors included Kenny Glenaan, Douglas Gordon, Mark Cousins, Tilda Swinton, Nick Higgins, Irvine Welsh, Sana Bilgrami, Doug Aubrey, David Graham Scott and Anna Jones.

Alice has also made commercials and corporate films for clients as diverse as the Scottish Government to nursery store, Coo Chi Coo, bringing a unique visual approach and strong narrative style to each project.

MTP was formed in 1988 with the intention of being the first Scottish based Commercials Production Company.

In the year 2000 we were acclaimed to be the Production Company of the Decade because we had brought ‘International standards of Production to Scotland.’ In 2011 we became the only Production company to be given an achievement award for making an outstanding contribution to the British Advertising Industry.
