HURRICANE, a new feature film directed by David Blair launches in UK Cinemas from today.
HURRICANE tells the story of the Polish fliers who found themselves fighting for the freedom of their own country in foreign skies. Seen through the eyes of Jan Zumbach (Iwan Rheon), fighter ace and adventurer, it tells how the Polish, driven across Europe by the German war machine, finally made their last stand.
David Blair had this to say about making the film:
Although I was aware of the involvement of Polish airmen in the Battle of Britain, I’d no idea the extent of their contribution. Indeed, by firing down 20% of the enemy aircraft, there’s an argument that without them the battle may not have been won at all. On reading the screenplay, I felt it important that this simple truth was presented to a wider audience and by doing so extend a long-overdue message of appreciation for the efforts of these selfless, courageous men.
