Ruth Paxton is an award-winning Scottish director and writer, whose debut feature film 'A Banquet' releases in the UK on March 11th, starring Sienna Guillory and Lindsay Duncan. The film was Critic’s Pick for the New York Times on the weekend of its release. ​Ruth is the winner of Best Woman Director at the 12th London Short Film Festival for her film 'Pulse', and was nominated as one of Canongate Books 40 Scottish Storytellers of The Future (artists anticipated to dominate the next 40 years of creative life in Scotland). In 2019 Screen Daily featured her as one of ‘Six emerging Scotland based Directors you need to know.’ Ruth made her early beginnings in the industry as a director of various short films before developing feature screenplays, and directing episodes of the BBC’s 'River City'. Additionally, she serves as a mentor and lecturer with Cambridge University, Raindance’s International MA program, Screen Academy Scotland and Scottish Screen.
